New Unnecessary Traffic Signal Coming to 73rd & 181st

Looks like work has started on a new and completely unnecessary traffic signal at 73rd Ave & 181st St:

New traffic signal coming to 73rd Ave & 181st St

I pass through this intersection quite a bit—from both 73rd and 181st, and I have never found myself thinking “golly, I really wish there were a traffic signal here.”

On a similar subject, has anyone else noticed how smoothly traffic seems to flow at the other end of the block through 68th and 181st now that it’s just a 4-way stop? Once they get the second southbound lane on 68th opened up between 181st and Bothell Way, that intersection should be completed. Of course, we all know they’re going to put a traffic signal back in there anyway.

But hey, a crow can dream, right?

Crow Time in Downtown Kenmore

Let’s kick things off on a relatively light note.

Here’s a video of crow time in downtown Kenmore earlier this evening. For those of you who live on the outskirts of our little village, crow time is a twice daily occurrence when thousands of crows commute to and from downtown Seattle for work. The veritable river of crows stretches as far as you can see in either direction and lasts for about half an hour.

At dawn every day the massive murder flies east to west into the big city, and at dusk they fly back to their homes in the suburbs… much like most Kenmore residents. The main difference is that the crows go in to work seven days a week, and their work day is about 15 hours long (in the summer, anyway).

Makes all of you seem a little lazy.

Welcome to Eyes on Kenmore

Welcome, dear readers, to Eyes on Kenmore: Kenmore’s newest1 and best2 blog.

I am your host, the Kenmore Crow. I have been living in Kenmore for an undisclosed number of years, have been blogging for an even larger undisclosed number of years. Finally I decided: why not combine two great tastes? And thus, Eyes on Kenmore was born.

These pages will be an outlet for my musings about anything and everything related to Kenmore, Washington, 98028. Politics, business, commentary, news, events, and plain old rants—everything is fair game.

If you’ve got something you think is worth sharing, drop me a line. Of course, I offer no guarantee that I’ll print what you send, but I would certainly enjoy seeing what you have to say anyway.

So kick back, relax, and enjoy your stay.
