Is Kenmore on the Brink of a Massive Peacock Infestation?
Posted by the Kenmore Crow | Filed under Photo/Video
Out on a walk a few days ago I spotted this beauty just chilling on a fence in somebody’s front yard on 80th Ave:

Then I noticed this story out of Bellingham: ‘Wild’ peacocks becoming a common sight in Whatcom County
The Whatcom Humane Society has received at least two calls a week for the past three months from people reporting peacock sightings all over the county, said Krista Unser, manager of animal care and services.
That’s one infestation I don’t think I would mind. Peacocks are pretty cool birds, in this blogger’s opinion.
What surprised me was to see the above-pictured dude hanging out so close to a street as busy as 80th Ave. I wonder how long it has lived around there? It was pretty obviously not contained in any way, but perhaps is it somebody’s pet?
Herons, crows, and peacocks—living together in harmony here in Kenmore.

Hey there Mr. Crow,
Have you ever been camping, and tried to sleep in, but were instead woken up by loud, vociferous crows and/or ravens at the crack of dawn?
Well, peacocks are 10X worse!
They are pretty to look at, but there are very good reasons why people in communities all over the west are upset about increasing peacock populations in their neighborhoods. They make the loudest and most annoying bird noises that you have ever heard.
I’m a bird lover myself, but after hearing peacocks up close and personal, I’m glad that they don’t live in my neighborhood!

I saw a peacock in Kenmore around Nov 6th 7am crossing 80th avenue. short tail feathers exactly like above.

Thats not technically our Peacock. He’s his own bird. He showed up a couple of years ago and has moved in. He tends to wander across the street to the neighbors occasionaly. He sleeps 30 ft up in a tree beside our house at night. We call him “Peakook” . He is a true survivor, although I do feed him some. He’s the only one I’ve seen, so for now we’re safe from a peacock invasion! He’s fearless and has my big dog terrified. You mess with the Peakook, he never forgets!
