Hi Sue,

As far as your perception that things are too "negative" here, I would just like to point out that there are a plethora of sources for happy fluff stories about Kenmore. I have provided links to many of these over on the sidebar under "Blogroll."

Kenmore Blog.net, the Bothell/Kenmore Reporter, and Kenmore Undressed are all local sources that provide a primarily sugar-coated view of local matters. Eyes on Kenmore was created in part to provide a sort of "watchdog" (watchbird?) on local issues that I felt was lacking in the existing sources.

As far as your icon goes, it is randomly generated based on your email address. If you want a custom one like myself or John Reiher above, just head over to http://en.gravatar.com/ and sign up with the same email you're using here. Your icon will change to whatever one you select there, even on comments you've already left.

Why oh why is just about everything on this site so negative? There are a LOT of positive things going on around here but it sure seems "popular" to run down everything. :)

Okay, I admit it. I LOVE the idea of banners and am VERY glad city leaders are doing what they can to spiff up this city! It looks great and I think they are doing a wonderful job.

Let's see, pictures of closed businesses, like the former mailbox shop that was behind Safeway, one of the many abandoned housing projects that dot Kenmore. Hmmm, something positive, the new Adult Book Store behind Uma Thai!

On a serious note, I'd suggest images of the different parks in Kenmore, kids playing sports, real sports, like soccer, Kenmore Air, Swamp Creek, and CGI pictures of Kenmore Village by the Water.

The city needs to put up banners that show St. Edwards Park, Rhodedendron Park, summer nights concerts, other city events, Kenmore Air, herons (!), and announcements for town hall meetings. Ostrom's has offered to put up announcements for town hall meetings on their big sign but the city council has not taken them up on the offer. The city council is not too hip on having the public know when town hall meetings occur.
